The Butler Trust’s Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, showed her support to #HiddenHeroes during the Covid crisis on video and in person.
During the first lockdown, as she was unable to do so in person, The Princess paid tribute to staff in a video posted on the #HiddenHeroes message board.
After the lockdown was first lifted, HRH was keen to meet staff to find out more about the challenges posed by Covid and thank them for their on-going service.
In a six week period from mid-September, The Princess visited five prisons across the UK: including HMP Edinburgh; Moorland, in Yorkshire; Bullingdon, in Oxfordshire – where she joined the prison’s #HiddenHeroesDay celebrations; Isis, in London; and on the last day before lockdown was re-imposed, Hewell, in Worcestershire.
And on #HiddenHeroesDay 29.09.20, HRH spoke to staff outside visits to thank them, and their colleagues up and down the country, for their service during Covid-19, telling them: “It’s a real pleasure to be here today, in the Butler Trust 35th Anniversary year, to share in your celebrations of the first national Hidden Heroes Day, in recognition of all that you and your colleagues do, on behalf of both the people in your care, and the public you serve so admirably.”
